Firstproof is a one person business, not a registered company. There is no company number because there is no company: the person named above is personally responsible for this site and for the work.

What we sell

We design and build a website, show it to you finished, and you decide afterwards whether to buy it. Nothing is charged and nothing is agreed until you have seen the real thing. Sending the form is not an order and puts you under no obligation.

The proof costs nothing

We build the first version at our own risk and at our own cost. You look at it, on your own devices, for as long as you need. If you do not want it, you say so and you owe us nothing. We do not invoice for the work, the time or the meetings, and there is no deposit at any point.

Prices and paying

The prices on this site are a starting point rather than a tariff. They show what each plate usually costs and what it includes, so you know roughly where you stand before you have spoken to anyone. What you actually pay depends on what you want built, and it can land a little above or below the figure on the page.

The exact amount is agreed with you before anything is charged. You see the finished proof first, you are told the figure, and if you do not accept it you owe nothing. Prices are shown in your own currency for convenience. There is no monthly fee and no subscription of any kind, and a price shown on the site changing later never affects something already agreed with you.

If you are not satisfied

Tell us what missed and we build it again, free of charge, from your notes. If the second attempt is still not right, you walk away and owe nothing. We would rather lose the week than argue with you about an invoice.

Who owns it

You do, once it is paid for. The files, the text, the design, the domain: all of it transfers to you and we hand over the folder. We keep no lock on it, host nothing you cannot move, and need no permission from us for you to change it, sell it or throw it away.

Until it is paid for, the work remains ours. We may show finished work in our own portfolio; tell us if you would rather we did not, and we will not.

What we need from you

Whatever the site is meant to say about your business, and answers when we ask questions. We can write the words, but we cannot invent your opening hours or your prices. If something you give us is not yours to use, a photograph or a logo or a piece of text, that is on you rather than on us.

How long it takes

Five working days to the proof, counted from when we have what we need from you. Larger plates take longer and we say how long before we start. These are honest estimates rather than guarantees: if something slips we tell you, and a late delivery does not create a right to compensation.

Changes after it is live

Say what you want changed in one sentence and it gets changed. This covers the ordinary small things, wording, prices, photographs, hours. Building something genuinely new, another set of pages or a shop that was not there before, is new work and we quote for it first.

Things we do not carry the can for

Domain registration and hosting are bought in your name from whoever you choose, and their bills and their outages are between you and them. We are not responsible for losses of profit or business, or for anything you could reasonably have insured against. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you actually paid us. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or anything caused deliberately or by gross negligence, because the law does not allow that to be limited.

Your details

What happens to the things you send us is set out separately, on the privacy page.

Which law applies

Swiss law, and the courts of Switzerland. If you are buying as a consumer rather than for a business, this does not take away the protections of the law where you live.

Arguments

Write to us first. We have a strong preference for fixing things over winning them, and the remake promise above exists precisely so that a disagreement about the work costs you nothing.
