Your details

What we do with what you tell us.

The short version: what you send through the form arrives as an email and goes nowhere else. We do not sell anything to anyone, there is no mailing list, and there are no advertising trackers on this site.

When you write to us

The form sends us your name, your email address, what you wrote, which plate you were looking at, and, if you ticked any, the times you said you were free along with your timezone. It also tells us which language you were reading, roughly how you arrived, and how long you had been on the page before writing.

That arrives as an email. It is not kept in a database, there is no account, and nothing about you is stored on the website itself. We reply from the same address. If you asked for a free audit, it is the same thing with the address of your current site instead of a message.

When you leave a review

Your name, your rating and what you wrote are held on our server until a person reads them. Nothing appears on the site until it is approved, and you can ask us to remove it afterwards at any time. To stop one person flooding the page we count recent submissions, using a scrambled one way version of your network address rather than the address itself.

When you fill in a brief

If you were sent a link to a brief form, what you answer there is kept on our server so that we can reply to you and build what you asked for. It is more detailed than the contact form on purpose: what your business does, what the site has to achieve, what you already have, how to reach you. Only we read it, it is never shown anywhere on the site, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Counting visits

We count visits ourselves, on our own server. Not Google Analytics, nothing from anyone else. It is built so that it cannot follow you:

What it records is which page was opened, roughly where the visit came from, which language, the shape of the window, and which parts were reached. It is deleted after 120 days.

What your own browser keeps

The site remembers your chosen theme and language, and a few working values, in your browser's own storage. These never leave your device and we cannot read them. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Nothing is loaded from anywhere else

Every file this page needs comes from this domain. The typefaces used to be fetched from Google Fonts, which meant your browser handed your IP address to Google before you had read a word. They are now served from here instead, so your browser talks to nobody but us.

The site is hosted by Hostinger, who keep ordinary server logs the way every host does. Email reaches us through their mail servers.

What we never do

Having it deleted

Write to inquiries@firstproof.site and ask. We will send you a copy of whatever we hold, or delete it, and we will say when it is done. You do not need to give a reason and it costs nothing. If you are in the UK or the EU this is your right in law, and it is also simply how we would want to be treated.
